Well, I'm obviously not a pro at this blogging thing...but give me some time and maybe I'll catch up. Since my last post, I have finished the stools that my good friend Robin ordered and I don't even think I have taken any pictures, luckily she hasn't picked them up yet, so I'll try to get pics posted. They did turn out really nice though. I got down and dirty and finally fixed some old chairs into planters. They are super distressed and have great little accents on them. I got together the chairs, flag holders and a few other items and took them to the New Bern Farmer's Market last Sat. Angie shared the space with me and she took some of her gorgeous wreaths. We had a beautiful day, met lots of people, seen lots of strange things and I sold a few items. The bad thing about the set up was that no one could drive thru the Farmer's Market so no one was buying large items. Who would want to carry a big item around while they're looking at the other vendors stuff? Oh well, that's how it goes! At least we got some exposure.
This past Sat. we (Angie, Phyllis and I) took some of our items for sale to the Seahorse in Morehead City. It is a really nice consignment shop and we are renting space together. I think it is going to enhance our exposure. We each have exclusive items that work well together. Angie does the beautiful wreath arrangements and she made some wonderful wooden frames that are funky but practical. Phyllis has a special eye for vintage items that people are looking for, like pitchers, pictures, vases, etc. And then I have mostly handpainted items available.
We keep talking about how can we do something in Vanceboro, and I believe one day we will be able to set up a space to sell our wares. I will let you know when that happens.
Until then, hope everyone is blessed beyond measure this week.

Orders? I have orders!!!! :)

So excited, I have orders!!! Thank you Robin! Now to recuperate from carpal tunnel surgery. Can't wait to get started. All these ideas running through my brain...
Also ready to proceed with decorating garden chairs. (old chairs with flower pots in the seats) . Thanks to Bob for cutting the wood and holes for pots....Going to put some pretty spring flowers in the pots and just wait till their finished...pictures will follow.
Got an inquiry about painting some old chairs off of my craig's list post of the blue rooster chair. Maybe that will lead to some more orders.
Yea!

Getting a few things accomplished and wanted to share some pictures. The garden flag holder is a neat little item to put on your porch. It makes a great gift, especially with a pretty flag already on it. These are selling for $25.00 with a flag.
The next picture is a trio of handpainted on canvas pictures of my "Funky Chicken" framed in black, size 5x7. The trio sells for $20.00. Custom sizes available by order.
Also available is a wooden stool with the same Chicken for $25.00. Again special orders welcome.
The blue sponged chair features a proud colorful rooster on the seat. Great little accent chair.
I've been working on some beachy themed items to put on consignment in Morehead. Pictures coming soon.
This Friday, I'll host a craft nite for ladies at my shop. We will be decoupageing a flower pot. Everyone is requested to bring your own flower pot and I will have lots of paper stuff to decorate your pot. Super easy functional piece. Make it, take it. Class cost....7.00 per person! Where can you spend 2 1/2 hrs, make something, have fun and feel like you've been to therapy for just 7 bucks?
Oh, I'm looking for scrap wood, so if you live locally and happen across anything, let me know. I'm also looking for any old furniture, even if it is in bad shape, especially small drawers, like from a dresser or night stand....something great coming soon!
Thanks for following my blog...this is all new to me and I'm a little slow getting it started so bear with me!

CHAIRS

This was the day to pick up a bunch of chairs I obtained from a Auction/Consignment business that is depleting their inventory. Lucky for me....28 old, vintage and antique chairs including 2 wing backs. I'm talking OLD. Several ladder back, some with seats intact, various seat materials, and several without seats. One very old rocker that is assembled with wood pegs, the seat is woven out of some kind of bark. One of the neatest is a vanity chair, soooo cute. Can't wait to re-do it. A little paint, some new fabric and it will be gorgeous! Pictures coming soon, I hope.

Hard to believe Jan. is half over. I have put a couple of my items on craig's list for sale that I handpainted a while back. A vintage chair with a rooster painted on the seat and a stool with my Funky Chicken. I have several more stools to paint and will probably do some more with fish or beach themes. These are the type of items I can put on consignment in Morehead. I did get some 5x7 canvas boards painted with flip flop designs and some with my Funky Chicken. Now just need to find simple black frames for them.
Tues. will find me focused mostly on getting Joan's dogs to vet for rabies shots. Maybe there will be some time later in the day that I can finish painting some more beachy items. I'm trying to not focus so much on just what I like but what will possibly sell.
Hope this finds all of you healthy....thanks be to God for good health, friends and family!

A dreary damp wet day as Ben, Phyllis (my good friend) and I ventured to Morehead City to check on our consignment items in several shops there. Phyllis is doing quite well with her items although this time of year is kinda slow. I had items in 2 shops of which I retrieved all but one item that actually sold. It was a wooden stool that had a whimsical fish painted on the seat. I'm not crazy about selling on consignment the items that I handpaint. Never get your investment out of them. We did find a new shop that seems promising to place some items. In fact, Phyllis was able to leave 3 vases today that she had brought to put in another shop. If they sell for what the shopowner priced them at Phyllis will be doing good!. Even though it rained the whole day we had a good time. Even Ben was okay with the ride. And Honey was a sweetheart today.
